About the project

The video game industry takes a large place in the Chinese economy, regarding the amount of money spent and how strongly the population is linked with it. According to the market research company EEDAR, there was approximatively 517 M of gamers in China in 2014, all genres combined, and it is still increasing. Therefore, the video game market is in constant evolution and one kind is very popular, the MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game).

Beside its huge popularity, the Chinese government officially recognised the internet and game addiction as real and proposed Rehab Camps and military training to "cure" those new extreme game behaviours.

On these basis, I chose to work on the following questioning:
How to support the gamer in his gaming experience and to propose a new gaming habit without neglecting the passion for video games from the gamers.

Thought as an add-on of the MMORPG World of Warcraft, Gauntlet is a bracelet which empowers gamers to do activities and make them "physically" participate in the development of their Avatars in game. Thanks to sensors placed in the bracelet their daily life's activities are recorded into Energy and spread later when logging in the game.

The bracelet has two main gauges:

- Energy

- Bracelet's level

The more you level up your bracelet the more Energy you can store to improve your avatar.
