Involvement in the project
Sketch App
  • Worked in collaboration with the Head of Design of Lumos Digital and the Learning Services team at the State Library NSW.

  • Creation of user personas and user journeys to identify any pain points and user needs.

  • Review and analysis of the State Library NSW corporate website.

  • Used low-fidelity wireframes to brainstorm ideas and then created high-fidelity wireframes using Sketch App.

  • Regular review and feedback meetings with Lumos Digital Head of Design and the Library team.

About the project

The State Library of NSW was looking into redesigning the Learning sections of its website, which includes the Landing page, Primary and Secondary teachers pages, to increase user engagement and draw attention to the various activities available through their Learning services.

The team of State Library NSW has a deep understanding of their users, and their help was essential to create user journeys and personas to capture their needs and pain points. Based on stakeholder interviews, we identified a few important points:

  •  The Learning Services should be clear and attractive to families, given the vast array of activities available on the website.

  • The search and filtering functionality needs improvement to better support teachers building their curriculum.

  • The objective was to uplift the user experience while retaining the current UI components to align with the website's overall UI.

The design process involved regular meetings with the Library team and Lumos’ Head of Design to validate each important step of the project, from user research discovery to high-fidelity wireframes.

The final design proposition included the following features:

  • Tags to quickly browse through various types of activities.

  • Dynamic filtering to search faster.

  • A selection of the latest activities and exhibitions on the landing page provides an overview of our Learning Services to attract and engage users.

  • An introduction banner to describe and highlight an activity of the Learning section.
